SparkRead is committed to providing a learning environment that's usable by every reader — including students with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.

Standards

We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We test color contrast for both light and dark themes, support keyboard navigation on all interactive elements, and label every form input.

Built-in support

• Text-to-speech read-aloud on every passage (6 voices, adjustable speed)
• Light and dark themes; Light is the default for new visitors
• ELL translations in 9 languages for any vocabulary word
• Adjustable highlight colors with notes for active reading
• Responsive design that scales to phones, tablets, and desktops

Known gaps

We're actively expanding screen-reader landmarks and keyboard shortcuts. Please flag any accessibility blocker — we treat these as bugs.
